Good morning, Gilbert. Summer reading just started, so the town's two libraries are where a lot of the weekend lives this week.

Summer reading is back, and it's gone full dinosaur
Summer reading season opened this week at Gilbert's two Maricopa County library branches, with weeks of free, mostly drop-in programming for every age.
- 📍 Two branches. Perry Library and Southeast Regional Library, both in Gilbert.
- 🎉 The kickoff. Perry's Fantastic Foam Party runs Thursday, June 4 at 10:30 AM.
- 🦕 The theme. Dinosaurs, judging by the calendar: perler beads, suncatchers, story-and-craft sessions, and an Ice Age movie matinee are all on the schedule.
- 💵 The cost. Free. Some sessions need a ticket or fill up early, but most kids' crafts are drop-in.
Most of the lineup is aimed at kids and families, but the adult side is just as busy. Book clubs, an embroidery class, a collage club, and a genealogy session all land in the next week. The events that fill up fastest are the ticketed all-ages shows, so it's worth checking before you drive over.
